PAPER DOLL STORAGE

PAPER DOLL STORAGE. Storage of a paper doll collection can be a problem. I've found that this method works well for mine:

 I have several 1 and 1/2 inch binders filled so far. Heavyweight sheet protectors with a sheet of cardstock inserted hold each doll and it's wardrobe nice and flat within the binder. I write the name of each doll with Sharpie marker on the sheet protector as shown  and keep them all in alphabetical order for easy reference. I divide the outfits between both sides of each sheet protector or keep each doll in a set on it's own side to keep everything in order. Little hats and accessories go into a thin snack size plastic baggie inserted behind the outfits so they don't get lost.

AVA GARDNER. I'm pretty sure that this set is incomplete. it features some great fashions though and dolls that actually resemble the film star.

 

ANNETTE FUNICELLO 1960

[This dress was too large to fit the page so I divided the bodice from the skirt. Line up the bow at the waist and glue or tape the 2 parts together]

ANNETTE FUNICELLO 1960.  Annette grew up right before our eyes. This set from 1960 gives us a slightly more adult version with more grown up ensembles. In another 3 years she would be partying on the beach as a "teenager" leaving her Disney image far behind.

 

JOAN BLONDELL

JOAN BLONDELL. A big star of the 1930's whose career spanned 60 years on screens bug and small. She deserves the deluxe paper doll treatment which I've tried to give her here.

 

ELIZABETH TAYLOR - 1950's

ELIZABETH TAYLOR - 1950's. This is a saucy little set (I can't really imagine Liz bowling for example) which sort of looks like the MGM star but isn't really a great likeness as in some other sets from the same period. Lots of interesting fashions and separates here and some fun hats.

THE JUDGEMENT OF PARIS. A Greek myth that goes something like this:

The goddess of Discord (ERIS) is not invited to a wedding. In revenge she causes a golden apple to be introduced to the wedding feast. The apple is inscribed "To the Fairest". Three goddesses (APHRODITE, ATHENA and HERA) agree to allow PARIS to choose which of them is the fairest. Aphrodite is the winner but only after bribing PARIS with the temptation of HELEN, wife of Menelaus. This in turn leads to the Trojan War. 

Anyway, this is a beautiful antique set of the main characters in this story with a bi-fold background to pose the dolls in front of.
