HOLLYWOOD STARS. This set from the 1940's was originally titled "Miss Hollywood". I have reimagined it with actual stars of Twentieth Century Fox films from that period; Betty Grable, Gene Tierney & John Payne.
Some nice fashions and beautiful "costumes" adorn this make-believe play set with the addition of a tri-fold Hollywood background to pose the dolls in front of.

FRANCIE - BARBIE'S MOD COUSIN

FRANCIE - BARBIE'S MOD COUSIN. In the late 1960's Mattel saw the fashion trends changing but worried that updating Barbie's clothes to the new "Mod" style might hurt sales. The Francie doll took off in a big way and remained popular well into the 1970's. Not long after her arrival Barbie herself began to go "Mod" as well.

SHIRLEY TEMPLE

SHIRLEY TEMPLE. She was the biggest box office star of the 1930's. Her films are still revered to this day. For many little girls growing up during the Great Depression Shirley Temple paper dolls were among the first commercially available sets available to buy. My mother had started by cutting out dolls from magazines and newspapers so a store bought paper doll set was a big deal back then.
This is a more recent reprint set but the dolls resemble little Shirley and the outfits are cute.

HAYLEY MILLS in SUMMER MAGIC

HAYLEY MILLS in SUMMER MAGIC. This is the most forgettable of Hayley's films for Disney although this set has some fairly good representations of the period fashions.
I pieced this together from various sources and at least one of the dresses doesn't seem to go with the rest of the set although it is a nice fit for the doll.

VERA ELLEN - FILM FASHIONS

VERA ELLEN - FILM FASHIONS. There was hardly a film musical of the 1950's that didn't feature lovely Vera Ellen dancing. Whether wit...
