ANOTHER VOGUE PATTERN PAPER DOLL.
I posted a similar doll sometime back. Found in the magazine and aimed at young girls who could take the cut-out dress to mother and ask for a matching outfit made using the pattern number printed on the shoulder tab.
 This form of advertising went back to the late 1800's when clothes were often sewn in the home or made up by hired seamstresses which spawned the birth of commercially printed patterns. Home sewing became less of a necessity and more of a craft with the introduction of ready-to-wear clothing in department stores.
