POLLYANNA 1940's

POLLYANNA 1940's. This is a lovely little set but it has always puzzled me. The book POLLYANNA was written and takes place in 1913. None of these outfits, with the exception of the last green gown and hat, are from that period. In fact all of the clothes seem to be contemporary with the publication year of the set which was 1940. Why?
So I did a little research and discovered that there were several POLLYANNA books in the series and these were reissued in.....you guessed it, 1940. So this paper doll set was created to go along with the reissued series of books while still appealing to the more modern styles of that time.
The idea of Polly and Jimmy "dressing up" in older clothes is actually a nice touch although Aunt Polly and Nancy are left with just a shawl and an apron between them.
I think the creators of this set missed an opportunity there don't you?
