GENE TIERNEY














GENE TIERNEY. Every now and then I come across a set with nondescript dolls but rather nice fashions. I thought this set would be much better if it featured a celebrity's face and so I have turned it into a Gene Tierney 3 doll set. This is what I mean when I refer to the set as a mash-up. Each doll has 8 wardrobe changes with some lovely gowns.

LYDIA













LYDIA. You can tell that this doll came out in the 1970's. I have bemoaned the lack of paper dolls representing characters of different races before. A sign of the times for sure. Yet this foxy lady is letting it all hang out so to speak with a dazzling wardrobe that boldly reflects her pride in her heritage.

DEANNA DURBIN


















DEANNA DURBIN.  Lovely "Girl Next Door" in films of the 1930's and 40's. She was also a lyric soprano who always sang in her films and made popular recordings. Her career was eclipsed by that of Judy Garland and she is largely forgotten today.
Here in this beautifully drawn set Deanna shines again although Doll 1 has most of the fashions while Doll 2 has only 5 costume gowns. But they are beautiful.
