QUEEN OF THE DANCE

QUEEN OF THE DANCE.
If gorgeous 1950's ball gowns are your thing then this set is for you. I like the overlaying bodices and wraps which give some of them a different look too. Really lovely.

NAVY SCOUTS 1944 - SUSAN & BOB

NAVY SCOUTS 1944 - SUSAN & BOB.
Here is the second part of the Navy Scouts four doll set. The uniforms and fashions of the 1940's have always been interesting to me and this set is particularly well drawn.

NAVY SCOUTS 1944 - JACK & MARY

NAVY SCOUTS 1944 - JACK & MARY.
I have a fondness for these military themed sets from the WW II period. Navy Scouts were actual organizations designed to train young people in water related skills during wartime. Some of these scouts in Great Britain even took part in the liberation of Dunkirk.
Tomorrow I will post the remainder of the set and the other two dolls.

CISSETTE - A MADAME ALEXANDER DOLL

CISSETTE - A MADAME ALEXANDER DOLL.
Popularly known as "Cissy" this doll was one of the first dedicated fashion dolls produced by the Madame Alexander Company. Heavily influenced by French fashion which was in vogue in the years following WW II and a step up from the storybook and girl dolls the company was famous for, Cissette proved to be very popular in the 1950's and 60's.

BOSTON HERALD DOLL

Boston Herald Doll Trunk Front
Boston Herald Doll Trunk Back

BOSTON HERALD DOLL.
Every Sunday in 1895 the Boston Herald newspaper would publish a new full color gown to fit this doll. This is an excellent overview of late Victorian women's fashion during a time when clothes were still being created by hand specifically for the wearer by dressmakers.
I have added a little hatbox folder to keep the delicate little hats in and a trunk folder for storing the doll and her gowns.
[Glue or tape the sides and back of the trunk pieces together leaving the top edge open so you can slip the items and the hat box inside.]

THE ARCHIES

THE ARCHIES.
Dating all the way back to the 1940's Archie, Betty, Jughead and Veronica were the masthead characters of the Archie Comics empire. In the late 1960's these characters were re-invented to appeal to a more modern pre-teen audience and appeared in their own TV cartoon show.
This set was an offshoot from that renewed popularity especially after the cartoon band scored a surprise hit single with the song "Sugar, Sugar".
