DEBBIE REYNOLDS 1952.

Few classic Hollywood stars shone as brightly as Debbie during her heyday of the 1950's and 60's. She was also the subject of several paper doll sets over the years and this one came out early in her career. I love those early 1950's fashions and of course Hats!

Here is another set of Annette Funicello from 1962. From Disney Mousketeer to Beach Party babe Annette was very popular during the 1950's and 60's and several paper doll sets were published with her likeness during those years.

STAGE DOOR CANTEEN - PART THREE.

Here are the final two dolls in the Stage Door Canteen set from 1943. I have a fondness for these war time sets, especially the uniforms for both male and female ranks. I imagine that these were a way for young children to feel connected to what was happening in the world then perhaps involving their own parents or older brothers and sisters.

STAGE DOOR CANTEEN - PART TWO.

Here are dolls 3 & 4 from the 1943 set. These dolls have the majority of the fashions and what fashions they are.

The original canteen was set up in the basement of a theater on Broadway by the American Theater Wing led by Antoinette Perry, namesake of today's Tony Awards for Broadway theater excellence. It's popularity soon spawned canteens in other major cities across America including the famous Hollywood Canteen which was showcased in a movie at the time.

From 1943 this six doll set went along with the highly popular WWII canteen in New York which welcomed servicemen and women during that time. 

Nice representation of service uniforms and fashions from those days.

Here is the second doll from this 1980's Barbie set.

 She sports some more great fashions from that period plus not one but two western outfits. Ye Ha!
