HOOTENANNY

HOOTENANNY.
Hootenanny was a popular television program in the early 1960's. Broadcast from college campuses and featuring folk music artists and groups like The New Christy Minstrels.
I'm not sure what these four lovely ladies have to do with any of that, aside from Diane with her guitar, but this was a tie-in product put out in 1963.
Of course this show and the music it promoted would be moved swiftly to the back burner with the arrival of a little group from England.....the Beatles.

COLONIAL WOMAN

COLONIAL WOMAN.
Not much to say about this doll although I believe she was part of a larger set. Better to cut tabs of your own on the top and sides to tape together in back for holding them in place.

I've fashioned the original front and back covers into a bi-fold background to pose the dolls in front of.

LADIES HOME JOURNAL DOLLS

LADIES HOME JOURNAL DOLLS.
From 1900 on through the 1920's the magazine Ladies Home Journal featured an entire family of paper dolls in each issue. After mother had perused the fashions little girls would carefully cut out the dolls and paste them onto cardboard and a craze was born. This 100 year old pair are a good example.
